I found incorrect information about a dental practice. How do I report it?
Every practice page on Smylo has an "Is this information correct?" button at the bottom. You can use that for quick feedback. Alternatively, use the contact form above and select "Report incorrect practice data" — please include the practice name and what's wrong, and we'll investigate.
Where does Smylo get its data?
All practice data comes from official public sources: NHS Organisation Data Service (ODS), Care Quality Commission (CQC), NHS.uk Service Search API, and NHS Business Services Authority (BSA). For full details, see our About page.
Can I register with an NHS dentist through Smylo?
Not yet. Currently, Smylo is an information and comparison tool — we help you find which practices are accepting patients and compare their quality. To register, you'll need to contact the practice directly by phone or visit.
Is Smylo part of the NHS?
No. Smylo is an independent, privately operated website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by the NHS, CQC, or any government body. We use publicly available data published under the Open Government Licence.
I'm a dental practice. How do I update my information on Smylo?
Your core data (name, address, CQC rating, acceptance status) comes from official NHS and CQC databases — we don't control it directly. If your NHS.uk profile is out of date, update it through the NHS Profile Manager tool at nhs.uk. For issues specific to how Smylo displays your practice, email us at practices@smylo.co.uk.
How do I get my data deleted?
If you've submitted a contact form or email alert through Smylo and want your data removed, email privacy@smylo.co.uk with your request. We'll process it within 30 days as required by UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
I'm a journalist / researcher. Can I use Smylo data?
We're happy to discuss data partnerships, media coverage, and research collaborations. Please use the contact form and select "Partnership or media enquiry", or email hello@smylo.co.uk with details of your project.
Dental emergency?
Smylo is an information service — we cannot provide dental treatment or medical advice. If you have a dental emergency:
- Call your dentist — many practices have out-of-hours answerphone messages with emergency contact details
- Call NHS 111 — they can direct you to an urgent dental care service near you
- Visit A&E — only for serious emergencies such as uncontrolled bleeding, facial swelling affecting breathing, or trauma
- Search Smylo for practices that accept urgent NHS patients
